Unable to get a couch for Bath, we had to find a place to stay. I decided on this place due to the reasonable price and its convenient location. The location is perfect if you travel by bus or rail as the guest house is very near to both terminals. The room is clean and functional but the décor reminds me of a hospital or an institution. Certainly not the place to be staying for a romantic getaway but for a night or 2 to beat the high accommodation prices in Bath, it’s not too bad. Considering the alternative which is YMCA and at only about 5 pounds less for a double room with shared facilities, Anabelle’s Guest House seems to be a good choice.
Accommodation rating: 3
Basic room but very functional. Could be a bit small for people with lots of luggage but you can’t expect too much space in UK cities considering the amount of congestion. Even though the bathroom looks to be refurbished not long ago, the workmanship is quite poor and I would expect repairs very soon.
Value rating: 3.5
Let’s not forget that this is Bath, one of the most visited touristy cities in England. Therefore the prices for accommodation can be quite high in Bath centre. Go a bit further out to some of the better Bed and Breakfast and you can get much more from your hard earned money. However expect to take some form of transport or at least a walk of 20 to 30 minutes. Probably you can do that in the summer but in the winter it is probably better to stay in the town centre. The self service breakfast is a typical continental one which would probably get boring if you stay more than 1 day.
Information:
Nights stayed: 23 Nov 2010 – 24 Nov 2010 (total 1)
Total cost: £50
Room stayed: Standard double with shared facilities
No parking.

Anabelle's Guest House in Bath
Standard double room
The white walls and the bed frame may make the room look cleaner, but it reminds me of being in an institution.
Looks pretty new, with stand in shower
