Entrance to Deal Castle
Deal Castle is a very typical example of a Tudor Castle built by Henry VIII in the 16th Century. The castle is shaped like a tudor rose and all outer surfaces are rounded, very much different from a medieval castle which usually are built with flat walls. Rounded walls are believed to be stronger when acted upon by an external shot and hence are able to deflect shots much better than flat walls.
