Heart of Midlothian

The Heart of Midlothian is a ground feature built into the pavement along the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. It marks the location of the tollbooth used before the 19th century. The government also used to execute people at this location. It is very common to see people spit on the heart for luck. Be careful not to step on the them as it is also believed to bring bad luck if you cross the heart!
