There aren’t too many accommodation choices if you like to take on Ben Nevis. You either stay at Fort William or like me, stay at the foot of Ben Nevis. I would much prefer to stay as near to Ben Nevis as much as possible so that I can get to the start point as effortless as possible. I don’t want to tire myself out by doing any travelling even before hiking. There are possibly 3 choices, the youth hostel, the Ben Nevis Inn and lastly Achintee Farm. Prices for all 3 are about the same, but Achintee Farm allows more privacy. In Achintee Farm Hostel, there are 3 separate units of accommodations with 1 containing 2 twin rooms, 1 containing a triple and a twin, and the last containing a 5 bedded dormitory. Each unit has a kitchen and a toilet. Therefore only a maximum of 5 persons are sharing the facilities.

Accommodation rating: 2.5
The facilities are very basic as expected but everything is clean and the kitchen has everything you would need. However, there is only a small heater in the kitchen area and none in the rooms. Therefore it can get a little cold and during winter I am not sure if it’s advisable to stay here.
Value rating: 4.5
In my opinion, Achintee Farm Hostel gives the best value for hikers going to Ben Nevis. If not for the heater issue, I would give this accommodation a rating of 5 without hesitation.
