20th December 2009

We visited another stately home in London set in a huge park with a motorway cutting across it. It was freezing and the ground was covered with frost making it extremely slippery. Even the ponds have formed a layer of ice on its surface. Once again only a small part of the house is opened for the Christmas season and we would have to come back again in spring.

Osterley Park is considered one of the largest open spaces in London. In World War 2, the place was used as a training ground for the Home Guard. They have some exhibits on how Christmases were celebrated during the war.
